Organic Dandelion Root

As the old adage goes “one man’s weed, is another man’s flower.” Our Organic Dandelion Root is no weed in our mind! Well-known as a medicinal herb, dandelion root is used in folk medicine to help alleviate stomach issues and increase milk flow for nursing mothers. These carefully dried (not roasted) roots yield a medium to thin brew with a clear yellow liquor. Grown in the vibrant Pacific Northwest of the USA, our organic dandelion root has a high oil content that is a noticeable part of the liquor where a lovely swirl coats the top of the brew. Because of this oil content the brew is at once rich and mouth-coating, but also paradoxically thin and light reminding of freshly turned soil. Naturally caffeine-free, our dandelion root is a perfect ingredient for blending or enjoyed as a stand alone loose organic herbal tea.

Ingredients: organic USA dandelion root

Origin: Pacific Northwest, USA

The Pacific Northwest is home to some of the most prolific and best tasting herbs in the United States. Sometimes referred to as Cascadia, this region includes the states of Oregon and Washington and is bounded by the Pacific Ocean to the west and the Rocky Mountains the east. The various climatic regions (from the mild summers with abundant rainfall in the mountains to the broad, dry plateaus) create the perfect growing conditions for many different types of herbs. Environmentalism is prominent throughout the region resulting in a strong commitment to organic and sustainable farming, and home to one of the original organic certifying bodies, Oregon Tilth. In our efforts to source as many products as possible from right here in the USA, we are delighted to offer herbal teas from this region and plan to continue to increase our selection of domestically grown herbs over the next few years.

Steeping Instructions

At Arbor Teas, we believe tea should be brewed to suit your personal taste. We’re happy to make recommendations to get you started, but don’t hesitate to experiment! When brewing your tea, your main considerations are tea quantity, water temperature, and steeping time. We recommend herbal and rooibos teas to be steeped for 5 to 7 minutes in water heated to a full rolling boil. For the best flavor, use fresh water whenever possible, and avoid overboiling. If you want a stronger brew, just use more tea. And don’t forget to re-steep your tea leaves to get the most out of your leaf!

Staff Perspectives

  • Chelsea

"Dandelion tastes more herbaceous than our burdock root, but still has a light sweetness."

  • Lea

"A delicate brew that is lightly sweet, with a touch of earthiness, reminiscent of an early spring meadow. If rabbits drank tea, this would be the one!"

Love this tea as a base or on its own. It's best decocted but tastes great with a long steep as well. I will sometimes mix it with chicory for a deep coffee like brew and taste.

Last year with the pandemic I felt very stressed, I developed eczema on my legs itching uncontrollably. I research what can I drink or take natural so I understand that the benefits of the teas are incredible. I purchased from your wonderful company several bags of teas, but prepared dandelion root and burdock root the skin is totally clear, I feel very relax and happy. I will be purchasing from your company all the fabulous teas, and the additional item that was necessary to make the teas. Thank you
