Organic Decaf English Breakfast Black Tea

A great decaffeinated version of the British favorite! This organic and Fair Trade Certified Decaf English Breakfast Black Tea is made from a flavorful blend of organic black tea from the Putharjhora Estate in the Oodlarbari District. Flanked by two rivers in North Bengal, the fertile alluvial soil produces a classic Indian black tea. Because this organic loose leaf tea is decaffeinated using a state-of-the art carbon dioxide (CO2) decaffeination process, the rich and coppery flavor of the organic black tea comes through nicely. Also, CO2 decaffeination does not involve the use of harmful chemicals, so the resulting product is simply a healthy cup of organic decaf tea with most of the caffeine removed (and no chemical overtones)!

Ingredients: organic and Fair Trade Certified Indian decaf black tea

What are Decaffeinated Teas?

All true teas contain caffeine. Decaffeinated teas are leaves from the plant Camellia sinensis that have had at least 97.5% of the caffeine removed. The term “decaffeinated” is different from “caffeine free.” Decaffeinated refers to a product that originally contained caffeine (like Camellia sinensis) and underwent a process to remove most of its caffeine content. Caffeine-free, on the other hand, refers to a product (like many of our herbal teas) that never contained caffeine to begin with. For our decaf teas, we exclusively use the carbon dioxide (CO2) method of decaffeination. We believe this is the safest form of decaffeination, and retains the greatest flavor and health benefits.

Steeping Instructions

At Arbor Teas, we believe tea should be brewed to suit your personal taste. We’re happy to make recommendations to get you started, but don’t hesitate to experiment! When brewing your tea, your main considerations are tea quantity, water temperature, and steeping time. We recommend black teas to be steeped for 3 to 5 minutes in water heated to a full, rolling boil. For the best flavor, use fresh water whenever possible, and avoid overboiling. Try not to steep your tea longer than necessary, as you’ll extract undesirable bitterness from the leaves. If you want a stronger brew, don’t steep longer, just use more tea. And don’t forget to re-steep your tea leaves to get the most out of your leaf!

"No longer our fullest-bodied decaffeinated black tea, this Decaf English Breakfast has been beat out by our Decaf Iced Tea! However, our Decaf English Breakfast offers a wonderful citrusy note that is not present in the Decaf Iced Tea."

  • A fine quality decaf tea

Posted by Will Lytch on 12th May 2024

Let's face it, decaf teas are never going to measure up to the non-decaffeinated version of the same tea. Black decaf teas always seem to lose some of the delicate "bright" flavor notes of regular tea. That said, I've never tasted a more flavorful and satisfying decaf black tea. It's fine by itself and really good mixed 50/50 with flavorful herbal teas. I've been looking for a decent black decaf tea for years and I'm happy to say I've found one finally! Plus, the price is very reasonable for the quality on offer.

  • I mix my Arbor Teas to create half-caf

Posted by Elizabeth on 20th Nov 2022

I have been mixing regular and decaf English Breakfast teas from Arbor Teas for many years now. It's my everyday morning tea, and I love it. The decaf by itself has a lighter flavor than their regular English Breakfast (although still a stronger and a better flavor than most decaf black teas I have tried). When I mix them, I get a bolder flavor and can have my 2 morning cups of tea without the caffeine bothering me. And I feel good about the source, the decaffeination process, and the packaging. Thank you, Arbor Teas!!!

I have been ordering this tea for several years and I absolutely love it. It is by far the very best and most flavorful decaf black tea I’ve ever had.
