Organic Decaf Masala Chai Black Tea

Finally, our customers that only drink decaffeinated tea can indulge in a chai latte! This Fair Trade Certified Masala Chai organic black tea blend has a medium-body with exceptionally spicy flavor and aroma. Surprisingly similar to our caffeinated version of Masala Chai (and offered at the same price!), our organic Decaf Masala Chai Black Tea uses a broken leaf grade black tea (BOP) blended with cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and black pepper. In contrast to our caffeinated version, we amped up the pepper for a slightly hotter mouth feel. The clove and ginger really come through, with a wonderful cardamom finish. As with all of our Decaf teas, this tea is decaffeinated using a state-of-the art carbon dioxide (CO2) decaffeination process that does not involve the use of harmful chemicals. We recommend steeping a triple-strength cup of this organic Indian tea and serving it with honey and steamed milk.

Ingredients: organic and Fair Trade Certified Indian decaf black tea, organic ginger root, organic cloves, organic cardamom, organic cinnamon, and organic black pepper

What are Blended Teas?

Our delicious blended teas use the same top-quality organic teas and/or botanicals offered in our single origin varieties, but are comprised of teas, herbs, fruit, and/or flowers of multiple origins and/or varieties. When blending our teas, our goal is to create a cup with a specific flavor profile in mind. Unlike single origin teas, which can vary from harvest to harvest (just like wine!), blended teas trade seasonal variation for year-to-year consistency. As a result, the formula and/or appearance of our blends may change over time, but you can rest assured that you’ll always receive an organic cup of tea with consistent flavor.

Steeping Instructions

At Arbor Teas, we believe tea should be brewed to suit your personal taste. We’re happy to make recommendations to get you started, but don’t hesitate to experiment! When brewing your tea, your main considerations are tea quantity, water temperature, and steeping time. We recommend black teas to be steeped for 3 to 5 minutes in water heated to a full, rolling boil. For the best flavor, use fresh water whenever possible, and avoid overboiling. Try not to steep your tea longer than necessary, as you’ll extract undesirable bitterness from the leaves. If you want a stronger brew, don’t steep longer, just use more tea. And don’t forget to re-steep your tea leaves to get the most out of your leaf!

  • So good I named a horse after it

Posted by Torrah on 8th Nov 2023

I got this in a tea sampler and it is the only one I have tried so far because it is so incredible. It is the very essence of fall. It makes me a little less sad about watching the sunset while eating lunch and warms me up after working outside all day. I bought a horse and decided on the name “Cardamom” for her bc her coloring and personality reminds me of this dang tea. My boyfriend was being a miserable jerk and I told him I’d make him some of this tea because it’s so delicious it would make him less crusty and he said he wouldn’t drink it just because I like it. I made it for him anyway and brought him some and after he drank it he was nice to me, so aside from being delicious maybe it has some magical man-tantrum elimination powers!? Def will be ordering more but the caffeinated version so I have more energy to run away from my problems… cheers!

  • Sooo good!

I recently decided to stop consuming caffeine, so my search began for a good decaf chai. I stumbled upon Arbor Teas from a Google search and decided to give this decaf chai a try. It has such great flavor-- very similar to Starbucks chai and the brand of caffeinated chai I just gave up. I do 3 teaspoons of tea per 10 fl oz of liquid (soy milk with a bit of water). 3 teaspoons of sugar and a dash of salt to bring out the flavor a bit more and I'm in heaven. I don't usually buy loose leaf chai and initially thought the $40 price tag for 15 oz seemed pretty high... but then I looked up decaf chai from about half a dozen other companies and found that $80 per pound was pretty typical. So Arbor actually ended up being the best price, by far, of all the options I considered. All organic, eco-friendly packaging and delicious tea. You just can't go wrong with Arbor and with this decaf chai in particular.

  • Organic Decaf Marsala Chai

This tea has warm spices and a smooth flavor, especially when you add your favorite milk. It is further complemented by adding some of Arbor's Decaf Iced Black Tea, which is bolder. Use equal amounts of each for a richer taste that's more similar to a full bodied regular Marsala Chai, but without the caffeine. A winner!

  • The best!

I love this tea, it's so spicy and flavorful even though it's decaf. It's one of my faves from Arbor!

  • I want it to be tea time all the time

i’m in live with this tea. I make it extra strong, with half and half, a touch of local honey and a couple dashes of Cayenne pepper. Incredibly delicious! I plan on buying this as gifts for my tea lovers friends and family. I also recommend the Earl Gray Decaf, and matcha from arbor teas. I cannot get enough.
