Organic Emerald Spring Lung Ching Green Tea

One look at the young, delicate leaves and buds of our organic Emerald Spring Lung Ching Green Tea (or Long Jing) is all it takes to gauge the superior quality of this organic green tea. The beautiful spring leaves have been hand pressed paper-thin in the lung ching style during manufacture, taking on the feel of tiny feathers. Grown and produced in Zhejiang, the traditional home of dragonwell tea, this is an exceptional organic loose leaf tea representing one of the most well known styles of Chinese green tea. The leaves yield a light green infusion that is buttery-rich and savory green, reminding of asparagus tips, snow peas and chestnuts. This organic Chinese tea is a real treat for the green tea lover and it is now Fair Trade Certified!

Ingredients: organic and Fair Trade Certified Chinese green tea

Origin: Yiwu Yueran Organic Tea Professional Cooperative, Zhejiang Province, China

Located in one of the most important provinces of China for tea production and tea culture, the Yiwu Yueran Organic Tea Cooperative consists of approximately 32 rural smallholder member farms. Yiwu (not to be confused with the mountain of the same name in Yunnan) is located in central Zhejiang and known for its beautiful plum blossoms drawing large crowds every February. Zhejiang province boasts an ideal climate for tea production. Its distinct seasons offer a more temperate and less volatile summer than its southern neighbor, Fujian, and greater annual precipitation than the tea growing regions to the northwest. As a result, Zhejiang is renowned for producing some of the highest quality tea in China. It is also the traditional home to several of the most iconic Chinese green tea production styles including long jing (or lung ching), gunpowder, and anji bai cha.

Steeping Instructions

At Arbor Teas, we believe tea should be brewed to suit your personal taste. We’re happy to make recommendations to get you started, but don’t hesitate to experiment! When brewing your tea, your main considerations are tea quantity, water temperature, and steeping time. We recommend green and white teas to be steeped for 2 to 3 minutes in water heated to not-quite-boiling, just as bubbles begin to form on the bottom of the pan (approximately 170 to 180 degrees F). For the best flavor, use fresh water whenever possible. Try not to steep your tea longer than necessary, as you’ll extract undesirable bitterness from the leaves. If you want a stronger brew, don’t steep longer, just use more tea. And don’t forget to re-steep your tea leaves to get the most out of your leaf!

  • Wonderful fresh flavor!

I’m not a lover of green teas as I’m a black tea drinker. Once in awhile I’ll try a small bag of green tea to see if it’s something I’d purchase in the future. I haven’t found one until I read the reviews on this one, so decided to try a bag. It’s a keeper!!!!

  • Mellow and Delightful

Posted by Catherine Kleimeier on 6th Oct 2023

This tea is a soft, mellow delight. The aroma has toasty, vegetal notes reminiscent of roasted asparagus, and a similar note is present in the flavor. That savory profile is balanced out with a sweetness like asparagus stems or sweet peas, a full body with a creamy texture, and an extremely light astringency with absolutely no bitterness. The flavors melt together into a harmonious, mellow blend that lingers on the palate and encourages another cup. It might not be as "complex" as some green teas, but the gentle and delicious flavors are more than worth savoring, even for someone who tends to prefer a stronger cup. I find that I'm able to steep this tea about 3 times without losing too much flavor, though each cup is successively lighter and sweeter. I also barely notice the caffeine content, though as a coffee-plus-tea drinker, my tolerance might be a bit high.

Love the flavor. It's satisfying and gives body a feel good sense.

  • Affordable quality Dragon Well

Posted by AZ on 16th Nov 2021

Longjin is a favorite cultivar of mine especially when prepared in the Dragon Well style. While not a true Dragon Well as they have to come from Jongjin village this is pretty close while remaining affordable and being organic. The taste is basically the same so I'm not picky. A beautiful warm toasty vegetal note, piney accord, and subtle sweetness abound. It's a flavor that has to be experienced to truly grasp as words fail to capture it fully. Once you've tasted a proper Longjin you'll always recognize it.

  • Refreshing green!

NO need for sugar. This Lung Ching has an amazing freshness to it. NO heavy fishy or vegetal taste. I couldn't taste any of the flavor notes given in info. It was just a nice, subtle smooth green.
