Not too spicy
I'm ot a big caffeinated tea person. This reminds me in some ways of a spicy chai. The heat from the peppers is just enough. This is a full flavored tea with a nice warming after taste. Love this tea!
We are extremely excited to offer this *hot* organic herbal tea featuring Fair Trade Certified organic green rooibos. Naturally caffeine-free, this loose leaf tisane packs a punch! With an herbaceous nose of rosemary, citrus, and ginger, its aroma reminds of a fragrant cocktail. But, once it is consumed you’ll be surprised by the warming and lingering heat! The liquor starts off mellow and sweet and then WHAM -- the chili sets in to become the predominant flavor and you are not drinking a simple herbal tea, but along for a spicy, hot thrilling ride! Add a little honey to create a sweet and spicy organic tea concoction.
Ingredients: organic and Fair Trade Certified South African green rooibos, organic ginger root, organic lemon peel, organic rosemary, organic cloves, and organic chili pepper
Our delicious blended teas use the same top-quality organic teas and/or botanicals offered in our single origin varieties, but are comprised of teas, herbs, fruit, and/or flowers of multiple origins and/or varieties. When blending our teas, our goal is to create a cup with a specific flavor profile in mind. Unlike single origin teas, which can vary from harvest to harvest (just like wine!), blended teas trade seasonal variation for year-to-year consistency. As a result, the formula and/or appearance of our blends may change over time, but you can rest assured that you’ll always receive an organic cup of tea with consistent flavor.
At Arbor Teas, we believe tea should be brewed to suit your personal taste. We’re happy to make recommendations to get you started, but don’t hesitate to experiment! When brewing your tea, your main considerations are tea quantity, water temperature, and steeping time. We recommend herbal and rooibos teas to be steeped for 5 to 7 minutes in water heated to a full rolling boil. For the best flavor, use fresh water whenever possible, and avoid overboiling. If you want a stronger brew, just use more tea. And don’t forget to re-steep your tea leaves to get the most out of your leaf!

"I drink this almost every day! I love making a super-strong infusion and adding a touch of honey."
"A delicious tea anytime, but especially warming to drink in the winter. The spicy ginger and chili make this a "go-to" for me at the first hint of the sniffles!"
"So many herbal teas can start to taste the same, with only a few flavors that really dominate. With this herbal tea, I am delighted that we can offer something really unique."

I used to live in America and fell in love with this tea. Moving back to Europe I tried everything to find a tea at least similar to this (from the store & mixing it myself). This tea is just perfectly spicy, but fresh. Great when it's cold, but also amazing in the summer. Anyways, now a friend is coming for a visit and I am ordering this to finally be able to drink it again.
I got a sample of this tea and was on the fence about whether or not I wanted to buy it. I suspect that it would taste delicious with honey but since I'm on an extremely low carb diet to manage my diabetes, I can't drink it like that. Yes, I can sweeten it with stevia (and did) but stevia doesn't have the textural properties of honey. Then I got a cold. The spiciness of this tea is sooo soothing to a sore throat and seems to open up the nasal passages, making it easier to breathe. I am definitely investing in a full size of this tea to have on hand for colds or just bad allergy days.
Very fresh and refreshing tea. Goes with anything and is delicious anytime.
I just started drinking tea again. I am ordering samples of several different teas from several different websites. I ordered several from Arbor Teas. This one piqued my curiosity and it had a lot of 5 star reviews. I am looking for teas with a lot of flavor and I thought for sure this one would measure up. Unfortunately, for me it tasted like water that left a slight burning sensation at the back of my throat. I let my son try it and he said it tastes like water. My husband thought it was good so I am going to make it into an iced tea as he does not like hot drinks. I will not be ordering this again.
This tea is amazing! It is a beautiful cup to wind down after a long day. The spice is not too much, just leaves a nice aftertaste. It is just slightly sweet at the beginning. I can never get enough of this and usually brew myself a second cup (same leaves - works great!).
I love that this is a complex blend of whole ingredients, no added flavors. I do let it continue to steep as it cools to sipping temperature, and it picks up some heat the longer it brews. I was skeptical of how the flavors would come together, not being too big on cloves, but its kind of like the tea version of a pho broth, with zingiber, chili, and cloves being prominent. I find it warm and soothing, and good for when I'm craving something flavorful, but not sure I'm actually hungry. Nice to get the antioxidants from the rooibos as well. Hot: A+, just let it steep awhile. Can be re-brewed and it maintains some of its kick. Over Ice: A-. Refreshing but not much bite, my kids will steal mine and drink it up. Cold-brewed: Meh. Maybe it needs to steep longer than overnight to work. I didn't feel like the flavors came out as well as other teas and tisanes I have tried. I'll be ordering more, and in bulk next time :)
Love it! I don't get a ton of chili but the rosemary and ginger pair so welltogether.
If, like me, you find this tisane incredibly bland when brewed using the recommended amount and time, I suggest doubling both; I use 2 tsp for at least 10 min. The result still isn't what I'd call "spicy" (contrary to other reviewers here), but it is warming and delicious, and a lovely end-of-day brew.
The cloves in this tea are so strong that I could not get past the first sip. The chili pepper added a unique heat to the tea but the cloves ruined it for me.
Absolutely love this tea. Very smooth and varming. No grassy flavors, just lovely
This tea on its own is soothing and delicious. For a lighter flavor, brew for a shorter time using one tsp per 8 oz. I like this tea a bit stronger! I love how much the different flavors come out with a longer brew time and a slightly larger portion of tea (1.5 tsp/8oz). If you need head or body soothing to heal from cold symptoms, it's fantastic with a splash of honey as well. We keep this tea stocked permanently. It is THAT good!
This is the tea not for my everyday craving. It's unique and an acquired taste. I can't really pin point exactly which ingredient is center core because the taste is like the combination of all tastes. BUT I must say my body LOVES IT when I have some cold symptoms. I reach out to this unusual remedy and I feel soothed. I even purposely made a strong cup just for kicking the cold! My taste buds wants to give it a 4 stars, it's not my favorite for daily drinks. ( it's not bad taste at all, not something challenging) But my body wants to give it 5 stars when it comes to helping me when I don't feel well. 5 stars for health purpose!
Although I'm not a fan of ginger, I am a fan of chili and spicy foods so out of curiosity I ordered a sample of this tisane. I actually found it enjoyable, not too gingery and it was mildly spicy (to my tastebuds). I don't think I need to order a full-sized bag yet I am happy to have enjoyed a tea with a ginger base.
I love the mild heat of this tea, but the flavors weren't really there. It is pretty bland tasting.
we bought this because, well, we couldn't NOT try it. We love spicy stuff around here. However, it seems that we really don't want to drink HOT hot (or iced) tea. LOL!! I did try it when I had a stuffed up head cold, and it did help a bit with that, but I really don't think I ever need another cup. Sorry!
I ordered a large package of this tea after reading the reviews, and looked forward to tasting it. It is a wonderful combination, fragrant and of obvious quality ingredients but after a few days I couldn't drink it anymore because of the chili- incredibly acidic. The same happened to my husband and my mother in law. We are not "hot" Food people, more like "mild" to no heat so I think even though the tisane isn't too spicy it did affect us. My 20yo daughter can tolerate it, but only after a meal. Definitely not for us!
It's recommended to start your morning out with warm water, a little lemon, ginger, and cayenne to neutralize the body’s pH, stimulate the circulatory system, detox your system, and start your morning energized. This spicy little number will do the trick and its so much easier than squeezing lemon and cutting up ginger when you are trying to rush out the door. I am so excited to discover this great find! I will be adding this yummy, spicy, energizing little gem to my morning routine.
If I could leave rate this 10 stars, I would! It's spicy but not overpowering. I drink it all day long.
This tea might raise the dead. You certainly won’t sleep through a cup of it. When I saw this on the Arbor Tea site, thought, “Really? Chili peppers? Rosemary? Sounds more like chutney than a tea. I couldn’t quite imagine how it could be appealing, but it also sounded too novel and exotic not to try, so I ordered a sample pack, and I’m very glad I followed that whimsical impulse. As bold as the flavors are in it, they are remarkably well balanced and complimentary, and even more remarkable is that they are in no way overpowering. I only brew and drink one cup of this at a time, usually at night due to it being an herbal tea with no caffeine, but I enjoy every sip and don’t feel like I need to wash it down with anything or cool my mouth down afterwards with a palate cleanser like one might have to do after eating spicy food. I can’t say that I drink it often or that it is one of my favorite teas – just can’t do that with a no-caffeine herbal – but I can say that I’m glad I have this on hand and say that I enjoy pulling it out and brewing it up for a novel flavor experience from time to time. It’s such an unusual tea that it might even make for a conversation piece. If you’re curious about this tea but not quite sure, I encourage you to get a sample and give it a try because you’ll know right away if you like it – I doubt there’s any gray area here – and at the very least you’ll enjoy smelling it. If you don’t end up drinking it all, you could use the remainder as a potpourri.
Purchased as a sample 1st; immediately go back on line to purchase the largest bag available after that 1st cup! This is probably one of the best herbal Tisanes I've ever had! I through in a few pieces of dried ginger root into my infuser (I love ginger!). Hope they never discontinue this! It's awesome!! I make refrigerator tea for my husband with this every night. I make my own tea bags; add a couple TBS's of tea, few pieces of dried root, fill up his 20 oz to go tea container, throw in my homemade tea bag with a spoon of honey & tah dah!! Next morning he has his tea to take to work! I'm completely impressed with everything I've purchased from Arbor teas! There's no doubt this is a class act company with high quality teas; you can see it in the infuser! I love Arbor teas! Absolutely LOVE the plum Oolong, the Marsala Chai's both regular and decaf, along with quiet a few of the fab black teas. If you like ginger with a little kick! try this; you'll love it!!
Lots of flavor here. Love the warmth and spice, but there is also a lovely sweet undertone. Great tea for a winter evening.
This was bought for my husband, he went absolutely nuts over this blend! I'm back to buy a large bag before the sample runs out; he's in love!
Let me start by saying I do not like spicy food. However, I just had to try this. I took the suggestion to add a little honey and I have to say that I love it. I tend to have problems with my sinuses and cold and this works wonders. I also agree with another reviewer who said this works great as an afternoon pick me up.
If you love ginger, you must try this tea! It smells like ginger snaps baking. The taste is very gingery, quickly followed by heat, with a peppery finish. The sensation in your mouth is similar to a sip of cognac, -very warming. A second steeping loses much of the heat, but maintains a nice ginger flavor. I'm not a big fan of herbal teas, but I could see keeping some of this on hand.
This tea WILL warm you up if your cold.. Also if your suffering from seasonal allergies or a sore throat, this is definitely a tea you want to have close by. It truly works better than anything for opening my head, easing my tummy, and soothing my throat. The ginger makes this tea pop with aroma and flavor. This tea is definitely worth trying.
This has a nice kick! I was looking for a spicy cool-weather tea other than just chai teas. The spiciness is strong enough to keep you wanting to sip more. It has a really good ginger & lemon taste at first, followed by a hot kick after. Would purchase this again for sure.
really incredible tea that wakes up your taste buds and makes them smile. By far the most flavorful herbal tea I've ever tried. Very addicting. I'm truly in love with this tea!!!
If you love hot, spicy food like I do, this is your herbal tea. I am a fan of Irish Breakfast tea, the strongest, black tea I've found, so my taste buds respond to most herbal teas with the sensation that they're better than plain hot water, but only just. Now my taste buds can rejoice in this blend of ginger, citrus, rosemary and the punch of chili late in the day without my staring at the ceiling half the night wishing I hadn't had that last cup of tea.
