Japan produces almost exclusively green teas. They use steam to halt the oxidization process during manufacture, which results in a distinctly vegetal green tea that reminds of seaweed and spinach. Arbor Teas is proud to offer a variety of single origin organic teas from Japan that represent authentic Japanese tea styles and are extremely rare finds in the very limited organic Japanese tea market.

Our Japanese teas come from several places, but mainly we source our teas from the Kagoshima Prefecture on the island of Kyushu, and the Shizuoka Prefecture. While Japanese teas certainly have a distinct flavor and production style, there is a wide variety within our selection. Our Organic Houjicha, for example, imparts a toasted grain note, and our Organic Sencha has leafy green notes. We offer two types of organic matcha green tea; a ceremonial grade and a cooking grade; both matcha powders serve a purpose in any kitchen.
