Organic Lychee Black Tea

This beautifully sweet and fruity Fair Trade Certified organic tea is traditional to China. Often created by scenting black tea with lychee peels and/or blossoms, our loose leaf organic black tea is flavored with extract from the lychee fruit for maximum taste. Native to Asia, lychee is a small round pink fruit with a translucent white pulp known for its delicate floral and fruity fragrance and taste. For this blend, we use a traditional Chinese organic black tea as the base and add in a small amount of our Vietnamese organic black tea to create a light to medium-bodied, smooth cup; all the while making sure the sweet fruity notes of the lychee can shine through!

Ingredients: organic and Fair Trade Certified Chinese and Vietnamese black tea, organic osmanthus blossoms, organic safflowers, and natural lychee and tropical flavors

What are Flavored Teas?

Our delicious flavored teas use the same top-quality organic tea that we offer in our unflavored varieties, but are blended with pieces of real fruit, spices, flowers, and 100% natural flavors. When blending our teas, our goal is to create a cup that balances the taste of the tea with the flavors of the additional ingredients so that neither one overpowers. All of the natural flavors we use are either extracts taken directly from the botanical ingredient, or extracted using 100% GMO-free grain alcohol as a solvent. You can rest assured that none of the flavors used in our blends are synthetically or artificially derived, and do not use artificial preservatives.

Steeping Instructions

At Arbor Teas, we believe tea should be brewed to suit your personal taste. We’re happy to make recommendations to get you started, but don’t hesitate to experiment! When brewing your tea, your main considerations are tea quantity, water temperature, and steeping time. We recommend black teas to be steeped for 3 to 5 minutes in water heated to a full, rolling boil. For the best flavor, use fresh water whenever possible, and avoid overboiling. Try not to steep your tea longer than necessary, as you’ll extract undesirable bitterness from the leaves. If you want a stronger brew, don’t steep longer, just use more tea. And don’t forget to re-steep your tea leaves to get the most out of your leaf!

  • Favorite lychee tea

Lychee tea is usually made with green tea, and often the flavors don't balance well. This black tea brings out the lychee flavor perfectly. The tea is also fantastic iced. I'm repurchasing it now and will continue to.

  • a sweet Asian treat

Posted by Skye on 16th Nov 2022

Growing up, I learned to associate lychee with Asian desserts and treats since it wasn't something I ever had in Western contexts. Since I'm not supposed to eat sweets anymore, I was really excited to try this tea as way to enjoy something sweet without impacting my blood glucose. I tasted a sample of this tea with a friend who had never had lychees before and she did not respond as positively to it as I did. She found it a little weird. Given that, I definitely think this is worth trying in a sample size first if you like fruity or sweet teas. For those who haven't tasted lychees, my friend thought that the closest fruit she could compare it to was apple. To me, I find lychee to be very perfumey and floral in flavor and when I suggested that it tasted like floral honey, she agreed with me. I'm planning on buying myself a full sized bag of this tea at some point in the near future but I don't think it's a tea I'll drink every day. I think this tea will be lovely to have in my collection of teas as a sweet treat when I'm craving the taste of lychees or want to treat a friend to a different tea.

  • Worthy of a re-purchase!

Posted by Angela on 30th Aug 2022

This was one flavor I initially tried in a taster-size bag, but finished quickly! I ordered a regular size bag on my next purchase! It has a sweet smell and light flavor. It serves well both as a hot tea and iced (I chilled hot-steeped tea and it worked beautifully).

  • There isn't a lot of lychee flavor in this

And it smells really artificial, like candy. It's a decent black tea with a touch of extra flavor, but I've definitely had better-flavored lychee teas before.
